Find your focus, grow with us, and be a part of the solution to the water challenges that face us in our future.
Do you recognize the vital role water plays in human health, the environment, and the economy? Are you aware of the significant challenges in providing water amidst changing climate, sustainability standards, and population growth? If you want to be part of a team leading the development of resilient and sustainable water supply solutions in the UK and internationally, we want to hear from you!
Stantec, a top-tier global consultancy awarded 'Best Place to Work' at the 2024 NCE Awards, specializes in innovative water supply solutions, environmental, and regulatory services for public and private clients in the UK. We are seeking experienced professionals (5-10 years in the water industry) to join our water resources planning team across various UK locations including Birmingham, Redditch, High Wycombe, Reading, and Shrewsbury, with potential for other locations and collaborative international projects.
The water industry in the UK is experiencing significant investment, with £4 billion for water supply and £2 billion for nature-based solutions in the 2025-30 period, driven by Ofwat. This includes initiatives for long-term resilience, security of supply, leakage reduction, and smart meter deployment.
Our water resources planning team works with water companies, regulators (e.g., Environment Agency, Ofwat), engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with scope, budget, schedule, quality, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include leading projects, advising less experienced team members, and contributing to strategic planning and bidding processes.
We value diverse backgrounds (regulatory, water company, consultancy) with recent experience in water resources policy and technical assessments. You should be comfortable working in fast-paced, multidisciplinary teams, engaging closely with clients and authorities. Experience in developing WRMPs, drought plans, regional plans, water resource models, demand management, and regulatory assessments is essential.
Qualifications include a degree (preferably postgraduate) in relevant fields such as geography, environmental science, civil or environmental engineering, with active involvement in professional institutions like CIWEM, ICE, or the Institute of Water. Professional chartership is preferred.
With over 31,000 employees across 450 locations worldwide, Stantec has over 150 years of experience in the UK, delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions. We are committed to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity employment, supporting our employees' growth and development.
