Job Description:

As we move into AMP 8 and continue with our growth plans across the UK & Ireland, we're interested in hearing expressions of interest from Water Resource Consultants seeking their next career opportunity.

Find your focus, grow with us, and be part of the solution to future water challenges. How will you make a difference?

Recognize the vital role water plays in health, environment, and economy? Aware of challenges like climate change, sustainability, and population growth? If you want to be part of a team building resilient, sustainable water supplies for the UK and internationally, we want to hear from you!

Stantec is a top-tier global consultancy, awarded 'Best Place to Work' at the 2024 NCE Awards. We provide innovative water supply solutions, environmental, and regulatory services in the UK. With ambitious growth targets, we seek experienced professionals (5-10 years in the industry) to play key roles in delivering our projects.

Opportunities are available across various UK locations, including Birmingham, Redditch, High Wycombe, Reading, and Shrewsbury, with potential for other offices and international projects.

About this opportunity

This is an exciting time for water resources in the UK, with significant investments in infrastructure, including £4 billion for water supply and £2 billion for nature-based solutions (2025-30). Our work includes Strategic Resource Options, Water Resource Management Plans, Drought Plans, and more, supporting water companies in AMP8 schemes and future planning.

Our team collaborates with water companies, regulators, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve positive project outcomes.

As a senior team member, you will:

  • Manage projects from inception to handover, ensuring scope, budget, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead by example and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Bring expertise in WRMPs, Regional Plans, Drought Plans, water models, demand management, and regulatory assessments.
  • Support wider team initiatives and work flexibly across projects.
  • Develop networks to facilitate project success.
  • Manage commercial aspects, bids, and proposals, providing strategic insights for AMP8.

About you

We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds with recent experience in water resources policy and technical areas. You should be comfortable working in fast-paced, multidisciplinary environments, engaging with clients and authorities.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Extensive experience in developing WRMPs, drought and regional plans, water assessments, and options appraisal.
  • Experience with WINEP investigations, environmental assessments, licensing, catchment management, and climate change impact studies.
  • Understanding of UK water resource regulatory requirements.
  • Project management experience, including leading teams and complex projects.
  • Strong client relationship skills.
  • A relevant degree and professional chartership, with involvement in institutions like CIWEM or ICE.
