Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is seeking a Principal Transport Planner to join their Development Planning team in a hybrid role based in Bristol. The position involves ownership of transport planning projects and practical advisory support for developers and project teams.

The role can suit an experienced Senior Transport Planner aiming to progress to Principal, or a current Principal Transport Planner seeking a technically focused position with limited business development duties.

Qualifications

• Strong UK development planning experience required.
• Experience preparing Transport Assessments and Transport Statements.
• Commercial awareness and ability to manage project budgets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
• Undertake access appraisals and feasibility studies.
• Produce technical notes and planning documentation.
• Advise clients on transport strategy from pre-application to planning submission.
• Support projects through planning conditions, S106 and S278 matters.
• Review proposals and identify practical transport solutions.
• Liaise with developers, architects and planning authorities.
• Mentor junior team members.

Principal Transport Planner - Development Planning

Location: Bristol - Hybrid

Salary: £45,000 - £65,000+ DOE

Senior or Principal Transport Planner required to join an established independent multidisciplinary consultancy, working within a growing Development Planning team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner who enjoys taking ownership of projects and providing practical, commercially focused transport advice to developers and wider project teams.

The role can be tailored to suit either an experienced Senior Transport Planner looking to progress to Principal level, or an established Principal Transport Planner seeking a technically focused position without the expectation of significant business development responsibilities. The successful candidate will work on a varied portfolio of development-led transport planning projects predominantly across the Midlands and South of England.

Principal Transport Planner Job Overview

• Preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans

Principal Transport Planner Job Requirements

The successful candidate should have strong UK development planning experience and ideally demonstrate

• Experience working within a transport planning or multidisciplinary consultancy
• Strong knowledge of UK development planning and highway processes
• Experience preparing Transport Assessments and Transport Statements
• Experience preparing Travel Plans and transport-related technical reports
• Good knowledge of TRICS and TEMPro
• Experience with junction modelling software such as Junctions, LinSig or similar
• Experience liaising with planning and highway authorities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage projects independently
• Commercial awareness and experience managing project budgets
• Ability to support and mentor junior colleagues
