Job description

Role: Principal Transport Planner
Location: Leeds or Manchester City Centre
Salary: 45,000 - 55,000

I am currently recruiting for an independent transport planning consultancy seeking a Principal Transport Planner to join their Leeds or Manchester City Centre offices. The ideal candidate will have over 6 years of experience covering Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Local Plans, Transport Strategies, Traffic Management Plans, and Access Studies.

The candidate should also have experience in traffic modelling using Junctions 9 software (ARCADY, PICADY, & OSCADY), which will be highly beneficial. As a Principal Transport Planner, you will work with clients such as hoteliers, golf course developers, motorway services, and residential house builders across the UK, with projects in Manchester and Leeds.

Principal Transport Planner Responsibilities:

1. Obtaining, analysing, and interpreting traffic and transport data from external sources;
2. Appraising development sites for transport accessibility;
3. Undertaking junction capacity assessments;
4. Providing technical input and managing smaller development projects;
5. Contributing to masterplan and junction designs; and
6. Participating in design team and client meetings.

Principal Transport Planner Requirements:

1. A relevant degree qualification;
2. Understanding of transport planning principles;
3. Excellent presentation and technical writing skills;
4. Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines;
5. Experience in developing and running traffic models with Junctions software;
6. Knowledge of highway design standards and guidance;
7. Proficiency with relevant industry software such as TRICS and TEMPRO.
