Job summary

Experis in Ashford is seeking a Principal Test Development Engineer with SC clearance to lead and hands-on develop automated test capabilities for complex electronic and software test solutions.

You will mentor engineers, drive DFT integration, and deliver test strategies for production and new product introductions, using TestStand, LabVIEW and NI-based ATE systems.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with automated test systems and NI-based ATE.
• Experience with LabVIEW and TestStand for test development.
• Background in ATE design, support or test development.
• Electronics knowledge including interpreting schematics.
• Experience in production/manufacturing environments.
• Familiar with oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators and data acquisition equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance NI-based Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems
• Lead the design, development and verification of automated test solutions using TestStand, LabVIEW and FlexStand
• Design test fixtures and commission new test capability for products and subsystems
• Work with engineering teams to embed Design for Test (DFT) principles into new product development
• Provide technical leadership within your specialist test engineering discipline
• Mentor and support engineers, helping raise capability across the test function
• Develop documentation, processes and future test strategies to support production and new product introduction

Job Title: SC Cleared Principal Test Development Engineer

Location: Ashford

Duration: 6 months with possible extension

Rate: Up to £500 per day via an approved umbrella company

Must be willing and eligible to go through the SC clearance process

Join a team designing and evolving automated test capability that helps deliver realistic weapons test and operator training worldwide. This is a hands‑on Principal Test Development Engineer role where you'll lead technical direction, mentor others, and stay close to complex electronic and software‑based test solutions.

What you'll be doing:

• Maintain and enhance existing NI-based Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems
• Lead the design, development and verification of automated test solutions using TestStand, LabVIEW and FlexStand
• Design test fixtures and commission new test capability for products and subsystems
• Work with engineering teams to embed Design for Test (DFT) principles into new product development
• Provide technical leadership within your specialist test engineering discipline

What you'll bring:
