Carrington West is recruiting a Principal Temporary Works Engineer to lead complex temporary works design across multiple UK locations. You will oversee design, checking, and coordination with construction teams, driving safety, buildability and compliance on large infrastructure projects.

Applicants should be Chartered or equivalent, with strong civil/structural/geotechnical grounding, and proven leadership of diverse project teams. Flexible/hybrid working options exist across the UK portfolio.

Principal Temporary Works Engineer
My client is looking for civil, structural and/orgeotechnical engineers to join their team in various locations around the UK.
Locations:Birmingham / Bristol / Cambridge / Cardiff / Glasgow / Leeds / Liverpool / London / Manchester / Newcastle / Norwich / Plymouth - agile working, with up to 1-2 days per week from home if desired
Hours:40 hours per week - flexibility on hours available if desired

Are you...

• Practically-minded, with a strong grounding in civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineering principles and knowledge of applicable design standards?
• A Chartered Engineer (CEng) or of equivalent experience?

What will you be responsible for?

Leading the delivery of a broad range of complex construction engineering services, including some or all of: temporary works design and checking, reviewing permanent designs for compliance and buildability, supporting tenders and preconstruction planning, and providing technical support to overcome construction-stage and post-construction issues and defects.

Main responsibilities

• Acting as Project Lead for multiple complex projects, managing technical scope, programme, budget and relationships with preconstruction and construction teams, from bid through to delivery
• Producing, checking and reviewing design outputs such as calculations, sketches, drawings, 3D models, reports and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with CDM, SHE procedures and QA processes
• Developing yourself, other individuals and the wider team, contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and systems, enabling the business to adapt to current and future challenges
