Principal Technical Process Safety Engineer

Overview

Tetra Tech RPS Energy (TTRPSE) is seeking a Principal Technical Process Safety Engineer to support projects within Offshore Oil and Gas, pipelines, onshore terminals, and gas storage. Location is flexible, with options for remote work and travel.

Your Role

• Deliver high-quality technical safety products and recommendations, ensuring client satisfaction.
• Support legislative compliance demonstrations for offshore and onshore hazardous industry assets.
• Review and report on risk assessments in FEED and EPC projects.
• Stay updated with relevant standards and best practices for process safety engineering.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and manage technical safety scopes.
• Participate in audits and site visits, traveling approximately 5-6 times per year.
• Enhance industry knowledge through client engagement and best practices.
• Mentor junior colleagues on technical aspects and sector knowledge.

Qualifications

• Engineering or Science Degree, preferably in Process Engineering.

Experience in areas such as:

• Process industry engineering (Oil & Gas or Chemical)
• Project planning and management
• Safety evaluation and hazard analysis
• IVB processes and activities
• Hazardous Area Assessment (EI Part 15, BS EN 60079, IGEM/SR/25)
• Preparation of engineering documents (HAZOP, LOPA, QRA, safety reports)
• COMAH Safety Reports and Safety Cases
• Barrier management, bowtie analysis, consequence modelling
• Fire and gas mapping, ALARP demonstrations
• Audit participation and presentation skills
• Advanced Excel skills
