Job summary

Leonardo in Edinburgh seeks a Principal Engineer to lead systems security engineering for GCAP products. You will plan work packages, guide security architectures, and provide authoritative technical advice across engineering teams and customers.

You will mentor engineers, develop security documentation, and drive compliance with security controls in radar/EOIR systems while maintaining collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Strong systems engineering background with embedded hardware–software integration.
• Experience with MBSE tools (DOORS, Cameo).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to decompose system security requirements to subsystems.

Responsibilities

• Lead defined systems security engineering work packages, establishing scope, activities, dependencies and milestones.
• Work with systems engineering teams to determine technologies and processes to meet customer requirements.
• Provide technical leadership in security architectures and risk-mitigation strategies.
• Specify required behaviour of security controls in radar/EOIR systems.
• Develop and maintain documentation covering requirements, design, implementation and verification.
• Support engineering lifecycle reviews and design assurance processes.
• Provide compliance assessments and evidence for security functions and designs.
• Plan and coordinate your own work and, where appropriate, others’ work to meet schedule and budget.
• Develop and update product security good practice across disciplines.
