Job summary

Leonardo UK is seeking a Principal Engineer to provide security engineering leadership for GCAP products. You will own security work packages, guide architectures, and mentor engineers while coordinating across engineering teams and suppliers.

You’ll work on secure design, assurance evidence, and compliance activities to ensure our systems meet rigorous security requirements throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience in physical product development with embedded systems, electronics and hardware–software integration.
• Experience with requirements and model-based systems engineering tools (e.g. DOORS, Cameo).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to learn quickly.
• Excellent communication, able to influence outcomes across engineering teams, customers and suppliers.
• Ability to decompose system-level security requirements to sub-systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead defined systems security engineering work packages including scope, milestones and deliverables.
• Collaborate with systems engineering teams to meet customer requirements.
• Develop security architectures, baselines and risk-mitigation strategies aligned with programme aims.
• Specify secure behaviour for radar and EOIR systems and subsystems.
• Maintain documentation across requirements, design, integration and qualification.
• Support lifecycle reviews and design assurance processes.
• Provide compliance assessments and evidence for key security controls.
• Plan and coordinate own and others' work to meet schedule, cost and quality goals.
• Provide technical support to Product Cyber Reliance management.
• Develop and update product security best practices across disciplines.
