Job summary

NHS England is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to provide hands-on engineering leadership for national, highly available distributed systems that are built and run within NHS England. The role focuses on driving engineering maturity and guiding improvement initiatives across the directorate, while refining NHS England's engineering principles.

You will represent System Engineering at a senior level, act as a key escalation point for technical issues, and work with stakeholders and partners

Qualifications

• Hands-on engineering and technical leadership for national, highly available distributed systems.
• Experience driving engineering maturity and participating in engineering improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Represent System Engineering practice at a senior level within the business area, providing strong, decisive technical leadership.
• Act as an initial point of escalation for key technical issues, providing leadership, autonomy, support and direction.
• SupportLead and Senior Systems Engineers to ensure every product or service has a clear technical vision aligned to user needs and the organisation's mission.
• Engage stakeholders and delivery partners; ensure collaboration is well coordinated and explore new partnership opportunities.
• Be part of a multi-functional leadership team to deliver user-driven outcomes.
