Enterprise Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer, Lasers in Oxfordshire. You will own the system architecture for a flagship photonics platform, guiding the integration of optics, lasers, motion stages, electronics and software to meet performance and cost targets.

The role requires leading a team, translating high-level requirements into concrete designs, and delivering a robust product from prototype to production with active input on trade-offs for reliability and cost.

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc in Physics, Optical Engineering or related field
• Systems engineering background including requirements, interfaces, integration and verification
• Experience with ultrafast lasers, precision motion control or opto-mechanical design

Responsabilités

• See the whole system end-to-end and decide how optics, lasers, motion stages, electronics and software integrate
• Set performance, cost and reliability requirements across the platform
• Provide clear technical direction to the engineering team

Principal Systems Engineer, Lasers

A growing laser technology business is looking for a senior engineer to shape the architecture of its next flagship product. Its systems are already used by industrial and research customers, and the next platform is central to its plans for growth.

This person will be the one who sees the whole system. They’ll decide how the optics, lasers, motion stages, electronics and software come together, set the requirements the rest of the team builds to, and make the calls when performance, cost and reliability pull in different directions. It suits someone who has taken precision laser or photonics equipment from prototype to a product customers rely on, and who enjoys giving a talented team clear technical direction.

Requirements:

• Extensive industry experience in photonics, laser systems or precision instrumentation, ideally with a PhD or Master’s in Physics, Optical Engineering or similar
• Systems engineering background covering requirements, interfaces, integration and verification
• Experience with ultrafast lasers, precision motion control or opto-mechanical design

The package includes a bonus, share options, private medical and a 5% matched pension.
