This role is hybrid/Cardiff based (1-2 times per week).

Role Overview

You will be responsible for Systems Engineering – Production Test Platform Strategy and Architecture. Reporting to the Systems Engineering Manager, the Principal System Architect will be part of the Systems Engineering department and will be responsible for driving forward the “Production Test” platform strategy and vision from conception to implementation and continued evolution.

What do we mean by “Production Test”? Effectively it’s the all-encompassing strategy that will allow SRT to provide a suitable environment, methodology, and implementation plan to confidently benchmark and approve our MDA product offerings before deployment. Our MDA product covers a broad range of technologies from infrastructure through to edge sensors and all the integration in between including software and hardware. Customer deployments are vast and we need to have the ability to understand and test a representative subset of the capability before deployment.

The role will require someone who can visualize what environments are needed (on-premise, cloud, etc.) to enable us to benchmark our product architecture and oversee the build of the associated test platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Designing and overseeing the development of the foundational technology infrastructure/applications/services that serves as the backbone for the Production Test platform.
  • Create high-level blueprints for platforms, defining their structure, scalability, and integration capabilities.
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure that the software/hardware solutions are built on a stable and efficient platform, promoting interoperability, security, and performance across the entire system.
  • Defining support requirements for the surveillance products, including maintenance procedures, sparing models, and storage requirements.
  • Working with other engineers and teams to drive the platform from creation to eventual test bed.
  • Lead/Mentor future team members who help deliver the platform and its testing capability.
  • Produce high standard documentation to support the design and implementation vision.
Requirements
  • Strong Technical Expertise: The candidate should possess in-depth knowledge and proficiency in various technologies, infrastructure, and software (including emulation tools).
  • System Design and Architecture: The ability to design and create robust and scalable systems is essential to ensure the successful development of the complex MDA product set.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Skilled at analyzing and resolving complex technical challenges that arise during the design and implementation of the platforms.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication and teamwork are crucial to work closely with developers, stakeholders, and other teams to ensure delivery of the strategy.
  • Leadership and Management: Strong leadership skills to guide and mentor future growth in the team as well as manage the overall project.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar.
  • Several years experience in system design, architecture including development of complex systems.
Benefits
  • Competitive Salary
  • Matched company pension contributions up to 5%
  • 25 days annual leave rising to 28 days with service
  • Private health care
