Highfield Professional Solutions Ltd is recruiting a Principal Structural Engineer for a new nuclear project near Nottingham. The role pays £70 per hour (Umbrella PAYE) on a 12-month contract with 40 hours per week and flexible hybrid working, with occasional office attendance near Nottingham.

You will develop verification plans, lead verification activities, and ensure designs meet standards. The position requires senior-level structural design and proven V&V experience, with BPSS/SC security

Principal Structural Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and produce structural engineering verification plans.
• Lead and take ownership of verification activities across designated work packages.
• Verify structural designs, analysis, connections, foundations, buildability and compliance with relevant standards.
• Work with multidisciplinary engineering teams to coordinate verification activities.
• Support V&V processes, planning and technical assurance.

Essential Requirements

• Principal-level structural engineering design experience.
• Proven experience in engineering verification and validation, particularly desk-based or design verification.
• Experience producing verification plans and independently delivering technical outputs.
• Ability to work effectively in a developing project environment.

Desirable Experience

• Previous V&V experience within the nuclear industry.
• Site-based verification experience.
• Experience with novel structures or complex engineering projects.

Contract Details

• £70 per hour, Umbrella PAYE.
• Initial 12-month contract.
• 40 hours per week.
• Flexible hybrid working, with occasional office attendance near Nottingham.
• Candidates must be eligible to obtain BPSS and meet the relevant security requirements. SC eligibility may also be required.
