Job summary

Primis is hiring a Principal Site Reliability Engineer for a fully remote role serving UK & Ireland. You will own reliability across a fintech platform, writing code weekly and collaborating across data centres and public cloud.

You’ll define SLOs, standardize observability, diagnose cross-stack issues, and lead incidents while mentoring senior engineers. On-prem or hybrid experience is a plus, and AI coding tools are used daily.

Qualifications

• Senior/lead SRE with production or platform scale experience.
• Production-grade coding in Go, Rust, C#, Java or Python.
• Deep experience with SLIs, SLOs, error budgets and burn-rate alerting.
• Solid Linux, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS) and public cloud skills; Terraform/Ansible and CI/CD.
• On-prem or hybrid experience is a plus.
• Experience using AI coding tools and awareness of MCP, agent safety and least-privilege access.
• Bonus exposure to Splunk, OpenTelemetry, HAProxy, Consul, VMware, Palo Alto, Cloudflare.

Responsibilities

• Defining SLOs and error budgets with service owners and prioritising reliability work.
• Setting observability standards on OpenTelemetry and Splunk for meaningful alerts.
• Diagnosing issues across the stack and delivering root-cause fixes in code.
• Designing chaos testing, fault injection, load and DR tests for critical services.
• Leading major incidents and conducting blameless post-incident reviews.
• Building tooling and MCP integrations for safe incident investigation and fixes.
• Mentoring senior engineers across platform and product teams.
