Job Description:

About the Company

AstronauTx is a pioneering biotechnology company at the forefront of developing transformative therapies that amplify the brain’s own protective mechanisms. We target brain activity during sleep as a therapeutic approach to treating neurodegenerative disorders. Leveraging cutting-edge neuroscience, electrophysiology, molecular biology, and computational approaches, we aim to unlock the therapeutic potential of deep sleep to treat conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurological disorders.

We are seeking a visionary Data scientist to lead our bioinformatics and data analysis research efforts.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Associate Director/Director of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology to lead bioinformatics efforts within our dynamic and interdisciplinary team. This role will focus on the development, implementation, and application of computational and statistical methodologies to analyse large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and clinical datasets relevant to neuroscience research. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in multi-omics integration, machine learning, and algorithm development, with a passion for applying computational approaches to solve complex biological problems.

Key Responsibilities

·Lead and manage bioinformatics and computational biology initiatives to support our neuroscience research and drug discovery programs.

·Develop and implement pipelines for analysing high-dimensional multi-omics data (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, metabolomics).

·Apply machine learning, network analysis, and statistical modelling techniques to extract biological insights from complex datasets.

·Collaborate with cross-functional internal and external teams, including data scientists, neuroscientists, clinicians, and software engineers, to integrate computational models with experimental and clinical data.

·Contribute to the design, execution, and interpretation of high-throughput sequencing and functional genomics studies.

·Develop and maintain bioinformatics tools, databases, and resources to support data-driven decision-making.

·Stay up to date with emerging technologies and methodologies in computational biology, artificial intelligence, and neuroscience research.

·Communicate findings through presentations, reports, and peer-reviewed publications.

·Mentor and guide junior scientists and bioinformatics analysts within the team.

Qualifications & Experience:

·Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Genetics, Neuroscience, or a related field.

·7+ years of experience in bioinformatics, with a strong background in multi-omics data analysis and computational neuroscience.

·Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB, and experience with bioinformatics tools and databases.

·Expertise in machine learning, statistical modelling, and data visualization techniques applied to biological data.

·Familiarity with cloud computing environments (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) and high-performance computing.

·Strong understanding of neuroscience, neurogenomics, or psychiatric genetics is highly desirable.

·Proven track record of leading bioinformatics projects and contributing to high-impact research publications.

·Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative, and virtual work environment.

·Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex data to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Why Join Us?

At AstronauTx you'll be part of a mission-driven team working to revolutionize the treatment of some of the most challenging diseases of our time. We offer competitive compensation, equity participation, and a collaborative work environment with the opportunity to shape the future of neuroscience-based therapies.
