Job Title: Computational Biologist – Spatial Transcriptomics

Location: Remote (Must be open to onsite work in South San Francisco, CA if converted to a permanent role after the contract)

Type: Contract (through end of 2025, with strong potential for extension)

Pay Range: $40–$50/hr (flexible for the right candidate)

Start Date: ASAP

Schedule: Monday–Friday, Day Shift

About the Role:

Seeking a skilled Computational Biologist to join a bioinformatics team focused on applying spatial transcriptomics for target discovery and mechanistic modeling in inflammatory diseases, particularly IBD.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize ML/AI models (e.g., autoencoders, scVI, transformers) for spatial mapping using scRNA-seq reference atlases
  • Analyze spatial transcriptomics data to identify tissue-specific cell states and programs
  • Apply statistical models to evaluate associations between spatial features and clinical outcomes
  • Integrate spatial and single-cell datasets to support immunology-focused research

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, or related field with 3–5 years of relevant experience (industry or postdoc)
  • Strong experience with single-cell and spatial transcriptomics
  • Proficient in Python and R; familiar with libraries like Seurat, Scanpy, Giotto, Space Ranger
  • Applied experience with ML/AI (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn)
  • Background in immunology; IBD experience is highly preferred

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with inflammatory diseases (e.g., Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis)
