Job summary

Hawk-Eye Innovations is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in Cloud Video Framework to lead and shape high‑performance C++ video processing in a hybrid setup. You will work across live sports deployments, optimise video workflows, and mentor engineers within a fast‑paced, globally active team.

You will collaborate with product teams, drive architectural decisions, and contribute to scalable tooling and low‑latency systems used by broadcasters and leagues.

Qualifications

• Experience with modern C++17/20 for high‑performance systems.
• Proven ability to write multithreaded, low‑latency code.
• Solid experience with networking/streaming protocols and tooling.
• Cloud or video/audio encoding experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and build next‑generation Video Review solutions across sports.

Our Video And Graphics Team builds the backbone of Hawk-Eye, creating the software architecture, deployment systems, and operational tools that power our world-leading sports technology platforms.Joining our Video Review team, you will build intuitive replay platforms by leveraging core media processing frameworks, low-latency audio/video tech, and seamlessly designed user interfaces.

We’re looking for a Principal Software Engineer with strong C++ skills, a curious mindset, and a passion for solving real-world problems in high-pressure environments. Whether you’re optimising multithreaded code for live encoding, interfacing with video hardware, or building scalable tooling systems, you’ll be making a direct impact on how fans, players, officials, and broadcasters experience sport.

What You'll Be Doing

• Engineering next-generation Video Review solutions across multiple sports disciplines.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement components for Video Review
• Taking part in field testing and supporting deployments at live sporting events
• Partnering with product teams and customers to refine and deliver the best solutions
• Championing high code quality and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement
• Leading technical discussions and contributing to architectural and design decisions
• Mentoring, supporting and line managing engineers

What We're Looking For

• Proficiency in modern C++ (ideally up to C++20)
• Experience writing multithreaded, performance-optimised code
• Familiarity with tools like Git, Visual Studio, and debugging workflows
• Experience with networking (TCP/IP stack, streaming protocols) is required. Exposure to cloud technologies or video/audio encoding workflows is a plus
• A proactive mindset and eagerness to learn from a world-class engineering team

Bonus Points For

• Knowledge of cloud architecture, preferably AWS
• Experience with FFmpeg, audio/video processing, or multimedia applications
• Working on a range of challenges, from hardware interfacing and network protocols to audio/video processing and UI development
• Passion for sport or experience working in high-performance environments
