Hawk-Eye Innovations Ltd. in the United Kingdom is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead C++ development for the Cloud Video Framework. You’ll design, optimize, and scale live video processing and tooling used at live sports events.

Join a hybrid team with 2 days in-office, work across cross-functional groups, mentor engineers, and influence architecture while delivering high-performance, low-latency video systems in demanding environments.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in modern C++ (ideally up to C++20).
• Experience writing multithreaded, performance-optimised code.
• Familiarity with Git, Visual Studio, and debugging workflows.
• Experience with networking (TCP/IP) and streaming protocols; cloud/video workflows a plus.

Our Video And Graphics Team builds the backbone of Hawk-Eye, creating the software architecture, deployment systems, and operational tools that power our world-leading sports technology platforms.Joining our Video Review team, you will build intuitive replay platforms by leveraging core media processing frameworks, low-latency audio/video tech, and seamlessly designed user interfaces.

We’re looking for a Principal Software Engineer with strong C++ skills, a curious mindset, and a passion for solving real-world problems in high-pressure environments. Whether you’re optimising multithreaded code for live encoding, interfacing with video hardware, or building scalable tooling systems, you’ll be making a direct impact on how fans, players, officials, and broadcasters experience sport.

What We're Looking For

• Proficiency in modern C++ (ideally up to C++20)
• Experience writing multithreaded, performance-optimised code
• Familiarity with tools like Git, Visual Studio, and debugging workflows
• Experience with networking (TCP/IP stack, streaming protocols) is required. Exposure to cloud technologies or video/audio encoding workflows is a plus
• A proactive mindset and eagerness to learn from a world-class engineering team

Bonus Points For

• Knowledge of cloud architecture, preferably AWS
• Experience with FFmpeg, audio/video processing, or multimedia applications
• Working on a range of challenges, from hardware interfacing and network protocols to audio/video processing and UI development
• Passion for sport or experience working in high-performance environments
