Our people are high calibre and motivated professionals, with a clear focus on meeting clients’ expectations.

We are seeking highly motivated and dynamic nuclear engineers with a minimum of 5 years’ experience to join our collaborative Bristol and London team. The successful candidates will support the delivery of technical engineering, safety case, and project management to a number of major projects within the nuclear power sector. Such projects include major plant modifications at Sizewell B, system engineering at Hinkley Point B, safety case documentation for SMR Generic Design Assessments, large safety cases managed by EDF Design Authority, commissioning activities at Hinkley Point C, and Safety Case production for Sizewell C.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role provides an opportunity to be part of an exciting, dynamic, and rapidly growing nuclear team across the south of England. Typical responsibilities may include:

  1. Leading the delivery of major safety cases.
  2. Providing specialist technical input and advice to resolve complex problems.
  3. Facilitating hazard identification and optioneering workshops.
  4. Production of formal technical reports, safety cases, and other project deliverables on time and to budget.
  5. Implementation of modifications to plant, including:
    1. Undertaking plant obsolescence assessments.
    2. Authoring specifications for new equipment.
    3. Reviewing design proposals and producing design substantiation reports.
    4. Authoring testing and commissioning strategies and functional test procedures.
  6. Support to plant operability, including:
    1. Condition monitoring and identification of plant faults.
    2. Supporting equipment reliability reviews, including plant walk downs.
    3. Reviewing maintenance routines/strategy.
  7. Management of projects, project teams, and interfacing with clients.
You will also play a key role in the mentoring of junior engineers and the technical development of our growing nuclear team, as well as having the opportunity to support the development of wider company initiatives, such as industry networking and learning, developing training courses, and development of techniques and toolkits to deliver more efficiently. The role also provides the potential to support other Risktec sectors such as oil and gas, clean energy, transport, defence, and conventional power in the future.

Key Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  1. A proven track record in maintaining engineering systems, commissioning new plant and/or delivering nuclear safety cases.
  2. A drive to ensure successful delivery and continuous client satisfaction by delivering pragmatic and proportionate solutions.
  3. The ability to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently where needed.
  4. Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong organisational skills.
  5. Strong analytical and logical skills.
  6. The ability to travel within the UK.

Additionally, this opportunity has high visibility and profile so we require an enthusiastic, confident individual who we would be proud to represent Risktec in front of our clients.

Benefits package
A competitive package of salary and benefits is offered for permanent staff, including:
  1. Car allowance (dependent on grade).
  2. Profit share.
  3. Company pension contributions.
  4. Flexible and hybrid working.
  5. Private medical insurance.
  6. Health and wellbeing – digital GP, access to wellbeing app and support.
  7. Enhanced maternity and paternity leave.
  8. Sustainable benefits such as salary sacrifice electric vehicles and cycle to work schemes.

Training and development:
Access to certified CPD courses and a university postgraduate education programme, delivered in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University, including the opportunity to enrol on the MSc in Risk and Safety Management.

Support to individuals working towards Chartership.

Additional Information
Due to the nature of the work, the candidates must have a suitable background that will allow them to achieve UK security clearance to a minimum level of BPSS (please note that this is very difficult to achieve within the timescales for non-UK and you will be subject to a screening process prior to interview to ensure that you meet the security clearance criteria).
