Job summary

Carrington West seeks a Principal Safety Case Engineer to join our expanding nuclear safety team in the UK. You will provide senior-level safety-case expertise across the design and development lifecycle for an SMR programme, influencing safety arguments and regulatory compliance.

You will lead safety-case activities, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust safety case strategies and evidence throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience in nuclear safety case engineering.
• Experience developing safety cases for nuclear facilities or safety-critical tech.
• Strong knowledge of UK nuclear safety principles and regulatory expectations.
• Ability to lead safety-case activities and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of safety case strategies and documentation.
• Provide authoritative input into design and engineering processes.
• Develop and maintain safety arguments, claims and supporting evidence.
• Identify and manage nuclear safety requirements across multidisciplinary teams.
• Support hazard identification, assessment and analysis activities.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor less-experienced engineers.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders on safety case matters.
