Our team includes motivated QA engineers, full-stack developers, data engineers, and business analysts, all leveraging the Microsoft stack for application development and data engineering. We build scalable data solutions for seamless data sharing with various customers and collaborate with Data Operations, Data Science, SREs, and Product Management to ensure high-quality data products.

The successful candidate will coach and develop a team of 5 QAs, driving process improvements and best practices.

About the Role:

The Principal QA on a data platform data engineering team leads quality assurance, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products. Responsibilities include developing and executing automated and performance testing, defining QA objectives and roadmaps, implementing quality metrics, and managing QA from discovery to delivery. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, addressing requirements, selecting cost-effective testing tools, investigating performance issues, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and implementing best practices.

Responsibilities:

1. Leading automated and performance testing for large or diverse projects
2. Defining QA objectives and roadmaps
3. Tracking quality metrics like code coverage
4. Owning QA processes end-to-end
5. Creating automation frameworks for web applications and data platforms
6. Planning and conducting automated and performance testing with teams
7. Ensuring testing aligns with requirements
8. Implementing cost-effective testing tools and practices
9. Investigating performance issues with IT teams
10. Leading continuous improvement and best practice initiatives

Requirements:

1. Extensive expertise in Quality Test Engineering with over a decade of experience
2. Engineering-Computer Science BS or equivalent experience
3. Experience leading or coaching QA teams and driving improvements
4. Proficiency in automation tools like Playwright, Cypress, Selenium/WebDriver
5. Programming skills in Python (OOP), Typescript/JavaScript, C#
6. Experience with CI/CD tools such as TeamCity, Jenkins
7. Knowledge of containerization and Azure services (Service Bus, Function Apps, ADFs)
8. Understanding of data technologies like Data Warehouse, Snowflake, ETL, Data Pipelines, PySpark, Delta tables, Parquet, columnar formats
9. Strong SQL and stored procedures knowledge
10. Ability to lead large-scale performance and automation testing
11. Experience administering testing environments
12. Ability to work within budgets
13. Awareness of industry trends
