A leading healthcare provider is seeking a highly creative psychologist to join their Psychiatric Liaison Service. The role involves contributing to service development, providing psychological assessments, and working with multidisciplinary teams to support patients in acute crisis. The candidate will engage in clinical work focusing on complex health presentations and develop training programs for staff. The position offers opportunities for professional growth and collaboration within the healthcare system.
We are looking for a highly creative and experienced psychologist to join the Psychiatric Liaison Service (PLS) leadership team and contribute to the team's work across the general hospital wards as well as the clients who present in acute crisis at A&E. PLS highly values psychological formulation and brief interventions to support their complex cases, as well as support their team's wellbeing through working closely with the other leads in the team.
The post holder will contribute a psychological perspective to multidisciplinary service development and delivery within the general acute hospital and A&E settings. This will include reviewing pathways to meet the needs of our service users, enabling the team to meet the standards for a Core 24 service. You will be part of the PLS Leadership team.
Clinical work focuses both on complex health presentations from the general acute hospital as well as service users with severe mental health difficulties and high risk presenting in crisis to A&E. Clinical work on the hospital side is varied, including service users with eating disorders, FND, MUS, depression and anxiety, as well as those who are experiencing long hospital stays in the face of multiple physical and mental health issues. There are opportunities to develop joint work with health disciplines across the hospital, and to devise training programmes for the general wards. On the A&E side, we offer a 'follow-up psychology clinic' for those who have presented with an attempt on their life and need brief psychological support to stabilise and prevent future suicide.
Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations
The post holder would join regular countywide Psychology Clinical Governance and peer-led CPD meetings.
