About the role:

We are seeking a Principal Project Manager within our Energy Networks team to lead infrastructure design and advisory projects, supporting decarbonization efforts across the UK and Europe. This role involves project delivery, process improvement, and career development in a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities:

1. Deliver project management for complex transmission & distribution projects, including feasibility, FEED, and detailed design.
2. Manage project scope, time, quality, and cost.
3. Build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
4. Establish effective communication across project teams.
5. Lead problem-solving and decision-making.
6. Control project finances and manage risks.
7. Handle multiple projects efficiently under tight deadlines.

Candidate specifications:

• Relevant engineering or project management degree or equivalent experience.
• Proven success in transmission or distribution design projects within the energy sector.
• Experience in project management and managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of contract administration, preferably NEC contracts.
• Understanding of change, risk, schedule, and cost management.
• Ability to make complex decisions and promote health, safety, and wellbeing.
• Experience in electrical infrastructure projects, e.g., Owner’s Engineer or Lender’s Engineer roles.
• Knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations.
• Awareness of contractual and commercial aspects of projects.
• Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

Preferred but not essential:

• Experience in Transmission and Distribution sector.
• Experience across project lifecycle stages.
• Relevant project management qualifications (e.g., PMQ, Prince 2).
