Job summary

ARCADIS in Guildford is seeking experienced Principal / Senior Process Engineers to join our UK Resilience Water team. This role involves providing design inputs for frameworks and managing large-scale treatment process engineering projects.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Chemical Engineering and have a strong technical design background. Responsibilities include liaising with clients, preparing design documents, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Strong technical design experience on multidisciplinary projects.
• Good working knowledge of Water Industry clients and contractors.
• Understanding of applicable British Standards and UK Industry Codes of Practice.

Role description:

Our UK Resilience Water team is seeking experienced Principal / Senior Process Engineers to expand our Design & Engineering team. This role involves optioneering, outline, and detailed design inputs for UK Water Companies' frameworks, along with large‑scale design & build projects with contractor partners in treatment process engineering.

Role accountabilities:

• Liaison with clients to understand their specific requirements
• Preparation of outline and detailed design drawings and associated construction‑ready documentation
• Inputs to the development of feasibility‑level design and optioneering assessments
• Preparation of clear and well‑structured design calculations, reports, drawings and other deliverables
• Liaison with contractors, supply chain, and other project stakeholders
• Mentoring and supporting development of less experienced staff

Qualifications & experience:

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or suitable alternative qualification
• Chartered membership of an appropriate professional body (IChemE or CIWEM)
• Strong technical design experience on multidisciplinary projects
• Good working knowledge of Water Industry clients and contractors
• Motivation, influencing and people management skills
• Knowledge and experience of BIM‑led design and other process‑specific digital tools
• Understanding of applicable British Standards, UK Industry Codes of Practice, and water specifications
