Job Title:

Principal Power Systems Electrical Engineer

Salary:

Up to £55,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Location:

Barrow in Furness, Bristol, Brough, Portsmouth, Weymouth, Frimley, or Manchester

We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world's leading, global defence, security, and aerospace companies as a Principal Power Systems Electrical Engineer. This role can be based at any of the listed sites and offers hybrid and flexible working arrangements, which can be discussed based on individual circumstances.

Role Overview:

As part of the Electrical Verification Team, you will be involved in verifying and validating power systems, conducting analysis, and performing calculations to support the development and design of electrical platforms.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis of electrical power systems
  • Manage and analyze electrical load budgets
  • Develop and validate electrical models
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and stakeholders on power system matters
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, and presentations to communicate results and recommendations
  • Develop and mentor team members

Candidate Requirements:
  • Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership
  • Knowledge of high power and medium voltage power systems and distributions
  • Experience with electrical load budgets and load flow analysis
  • Proficiency with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, Simulink/Simscape, MATLAB)
  • Stakeholder management experience

Eligibility for SC clearance is required, which necessitates holding a British passport and having lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years.
