About The Job

Job Title: Principal or Senior Structural Engineer

Location: Ivybridge, Devon

Salary: Principal: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum; Senior: £32,000 - £40,000 per annum

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent with a six-month probation

Working hours: 37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday (part-time considered)

We seek a Principal or Senior Structural Engineer to join our friendly team based in Ivybridge, working on diverse structural design and inspection projects across the Southwest region.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and support project delivery in areas including:

• Designing and detailing structures (reinforced concrete, steel frames, masonry, timber, retaining walls, basements, refurbishments)
• Assessing existing structures for condition and adaptability
• Interpreting architectural and M&E layouts for structural design
• Preparing technical reports and surveys
• Ensuring compliance with codes and standards (Eurocodes, British Standards)
• Promoting health & safety standards
• Preparing fee proposals and tender documents
• Collaborating across departments and engaging with clients and stakeholders
• Attending site visits for inspections and monitoring

Requirements

Ideal candidates will have:

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (MEng, BEng, BSc)
• Chartered status preferred but not essential
• 4-5 years of relevant experience
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Masterseries
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Attention to detail, good communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Full driving license
