Overview

A well-established motorcycle manufacturer is looking for a Lead Powertrain Engineer to take ownership of the design and development of powertrain systems, leading projects from concept through to production.

Responsibilities

• Lead powertrain benchmarking activities and ensure alignment with industry and competitor standards.
• Oversee timelines, drawing releases, and design reviews across multiple projects.
• Provide technical leadership and act as deputy to the team leader when required.
• Drive first principles design and development of engine components and assemblies.
• Liaise with suppliers and cross-functional teams to support manufacturing, cost, and quality goals.
• Mentor junior engineers, maintain departmental procedures, and contribute to engineering meetings and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Engineering or similar (2:1 or higher).
• Minimum of 6 years\' experience in automotive or mechanical engineering.
• Strong 3D CAD skills (Pro-E or CREO preferred).
• Hands-on experience with engine design, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of DFM, DFA, and structured problem-solving methods (e.g. 8D).
• Effective communication and leadership skills with experience managing suppliers and mentoring teams.
