Job summary

ENGIE Group seeks a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead data centre projects across London, Bicester or Newcastle. You will run large projects, coordinate mechanical building services, and represent the client in technical meetings, ensuring design robustness and compliance.

The role requires a degree in engineering, progression towards Chartered Eng status, and extensive mechanical design experience for data centres. Hybrid working is available with a competitive package and benefits.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng or degree in appropriate engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
• MCIBSE/MIEE or HNC/HND plus appropriate experience or equivalent.
• Working towards Chartered Eng status.
• Sound knowledge of BS standards/UK Regulations/Codes.
• Knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel).
• Ability to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheet software.

Responsibilities

• Running large projects.
• Client-facing role in development, design and coordination of mechanical/electrical installations for multiple building types.
• Develops and specifies controls, instruments, and operating systems for building services.
• Surveys and dilapidation reports on existing installations.
• Ensures design and drawings meet standards and customer requirements.
• Direct liaison with clients and attendance at technical meetings.
• Leads coordination of engineering services and advises on engineering concepts.
