Job summary

CIBSE Journal is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer in Stevenage on a 12-month contract. You will develop products to meet customer needs, progressing designs into production and collaborating with suppliers on technical queries.

The role requires Creo 3D experience, and the ability to work within a multifunctional engineering team. We value knowledge of manufacturing processes, tolerance studies and design for manufacture/assembly, with security clearance noted and a 37-hour week.

Qualifications

• Experience with Creo 3D design tool.
• Ability to work in a multifunctional engineering team.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tolerance studies, environmental test, mass property calculations, DFMA, reliability considerations.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.
• Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.
• Support to functional & environmental testing and trials.
• Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.
• Planning and reporting on own day–to–day activities to meet project milestones.
• Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging of extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexity
