Job Description:

As the Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, you will have the opportunity to lead a team of engineers. Your leadership will be key in shaping the ‘Intelligent Client’ to achieve our AMP8 goals and beyond. Your expertise in Mechanical Engineering is crucial for project success.

Responsibilities:

• Define technical requirements with Project Definition Briefs for strong project foundations.
• Refine Technical Asset Standards to improve process efficiency.
• Maintain engineering standards in Mechanical Engineering to optimise asset performance.
• Lead innovative design development for water and wastewater sectors.
• Motivate teams on mechanically focused projects to drive change.
• Ensure technical sign-off and seamless project handover.
• Support research into emerging technologies.

Additional Details:

This role is hybrid, based at Clearwater Court, Reading, requiring attendance 3-4 days per week. The working week is 36 hours. Candidates must have access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license, with a car allowance of £5,800.

Qualifications:

• Degree qualification or equivalent in mechanical engineering, preferably chartered.
• Experience in sludge digestion, biogas, CHP systems, water/wastewater treatment, pumps, piping, or process equipment.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements.
• Experience in lead design engineering roles.
