Job summary

JPMorganChase in London seeks a Principal Information Architect to lead metamodel development and metadata strategy for AI-enabled platforms. You will design DSLs, tooling, and governance to ensure semantic consistency, provenance, and auditability across engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain metamodels to support business needs.
• Create and evolve metadata assets including vocabulary, mappings, lineage, and data content descriptions.
• Build and maintain mappings between metadata and software assets.
• Design and maintain domain-specific languages representing metadata.
• Prototype tooling that captures, validates, transforms, and generates code from metadata.
• Engage with stakeholders to communicate Information Architecture vision and standards.
• Architect metadata foundations for AI capabilities with provenance and interoperability.

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:

• We need experience creating logical and physical data models and explaining them clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
• We need experience using UML modeling tools such as MagicDraw, PowerDesigner, or Eclipse-based tooling
• We need experience applying metamodel concepts such as UML and MOF to structure and govern modeling approaches
• We need experience working with controlled vocabularies and metadata standards to drive consistency and reuse
• We need experience producing and interpreting mappings and lineage to explain how data is related, moved, and transformed
• We need the ability to translate between models and their representations in programming and schema languages, including building or maintaining domain‑specific languages and abstract syntax structures
• We need programming experience in one or more languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python, or C++
• We need experience implementing language tooling components such as parsers, interpreters, compilers, debuggers, or related frameworks
• We need the ability to prototype solutions independently and navigate ambiguous design and functionality problems
• We need experience collaborating with business and technical teams to understand, translate, review, and playback requirements
• We need demonstrated experience designing metadata and language architecture that supports AI‑enabled solutions, including enforceable semantics, lineage and provenance, and integration into scalable platforms with resiliency, security, and auditability requirements
• Preferred: exposure to code generation patterns and the development or use of code generators
• Preferred: familiarity with data management technologies such as relational or columnar databases, data integration (ETL), or API development
• Preferred: familiarity with data formats such as JSON, XML, Avro, or Google Protocol Buffers
• Preferred: comfort engaging with the algorithms and mathematics behind languages, tooling, and data processing
• Preferred: academic background paired with hands‑on implementation experience
• Preferred: interest in how strong Information Architecture and models enable modern software development and engineering discipline
• Preferred: awareness of how modeling and metadata practices support regulatory and control requirements

Responsibilities:

• We will develop and maintain the metamodel to support current and emerging business needs
• We will create and evolve metadata assets, including controlled vocabulary, mapping, lineage, transformation, and data content descriptions
• We will build and maintain mappings between metadata and software engineering assets
• We will design and maintain domain‑specific languages that represent metadata, including their underlying structures
• We will prototype and maintain tooling that captures, integrates, validates, transforms, generates code from, reports on, and presents metadata
• We will engage with customers, the Chief Data Office, product owners, Information Architects, development teams, and other stakeholders to communicate our Information Architecture vision and standards and support effective implementation
• We will architect metadata and language foundations that enable AI solution capabilities, including semantic consistency, provenance and lineage, policy tagging, and interoperability across engineering workflows
• We will establish reuse‑first, metadata‑driven engineering patterns and governance that support AI‑enabled platforms through well‑defined models, DSLs, and tooling integrations
