Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Principal Housing Enforcement Officer to lead complex enforcement investigations in the private rented sector. The role focuses on enforcing housing standards, investigating breaches of legislation, and delivering robust enforcement action.

You will undertake inspections of HMOs and licensed properties, identify hazards under HHSRS, and prepare enforcement notices. You will also conduct interviews under caution and represent the Council in legal

Qualifications

• Experience in housing enforcement at a senior level.
• Strong knowledge of Housing Act 2004 and HMO licensing.
• Proven ability to prepare legal case files and progress prosecutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex housing enforcement investigations in the private rented sector.
• Inspect HMOs, licensed properties and privately rented homes.
• Prepare and serve Improvement Notices, Prohibition Orders and other notices.
• Represent the Council in court, tribunals and formal hearings.
• Progress prosecutions with Legal Services and gather evidential reports.
