Job Title: Principal Highways Maintenance Engineer

Location: London, UK

Salary: £50,000-£54,000 per annum

I am working on behalf of my client based in London for an opportunity for a Principal Highway Engineer to join the highways maintenance team. The right person for the role will be responsible for developing the management of highways assets, reviewing designs, and assisting in the delivery of planned and responsive highways maintenance.

Responsibilities of the Principal Highway Engineer:

1. Review and deliver major planned and responsive highways maintenance works
2. Strategically lead the project teams
3. Work within deadlines and budget requirements
4. Commission professional design services
5. Supervise highways sites
6. Measure and value works
7. Attend site meetings
8. Liaise with major clients and build rapport
9. Contribute to procurement processes
10. Utilise CAD software
11. Implement CDM regulations
12. People manage to a high standard and train staff as required

Requirements of the Principal Highway Engineer:

1. Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or similar field
2. Strong working knowledge of highways engineering and delivery
3. Demonstrable experience in highways maintenance
4. Understanding of relevant legislation, including the Traffic Management Act
5. IT and CAD software proficiency
6. Commercial acumen
