Job summary

TipTopJob is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer in Reading to lead a portfolio of geotechnical projects from tender to delivery. You will mentor junior staff and support team growth within a multidisciplinary consultancy.

You will oversee ground investigations, interpretative reporting, and foundation design, while maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring projects meet high technical standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline.
• Chartered status, or working towards Chartership.

Responsibilities

• Leading and managing geotechnical projects from tender through to completion.
• Planning, specifying and supervising ground investigations.
• Producing and reviewing geotechnical reports and foundation recommendations.
• Undertaking geotechnical analysis including foundations, retaining structures and slope stability.
• Providing guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Liaising with clients, contractors and design teams.
• Preparing fee proposals and supporting business development.

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join a well:established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy based in Reading. This role is suited to a technically strong engineer looking to take the lead on a varied portfolio of geotechnical projects while mentoring junior staff and supporting the continued growth of the team.

Working across infrastructure, commercial, residential and energy developments, you will be responsible for delivering projects from initial ground investigation through to detailed geotechnical design and reporting.

The Role

• Leading and managing geotechnical projects from tender stage through to completion
• Planning, specifying and supervising ground investigations
• Producing and reviewing geotechnical interpretative reports and foundation recommendations
• Undertaking geotechnical analysis including foundations, retaining structures, earthworks and slope stability
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to graduate and intermediate engineers
• Liaising directly with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams
• Preparing fee proposals and supporting business development activities
• Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high technical standard

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline
• Chartered status, or working towards Chartership
• Strong background in geotechnical design and ground investigations
• Experience managing projects and maintaining client relationships
• Excellent technical reporting and communication skills
• Full UK driving licence
