Job summary

Fortinet Principal Engineer role in Farnborough offers hybrid work with around two days per month on site. You will lead the design and delivery of Fortinet Secure SD-WAN solutions across multiple sites, acting as the technical authority and mentor for engineers.

The ideal candidate has strong Fortinet SD-WAN design experience, Fortinet FCSS certification, and expert knowledge of FortiGate, FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer, with a track record of delivering secure, high‑performing networks.

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Fortinet specialist to join an established infrastructure and technology services business, take ownership of complex network solutions and play a key role in technical leadership.

In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of secure, high-performance Fortinet SD-WAN solutions. You will define resilient, multi-site network architectures, act as the technical authority for complex issues and mentor engineers and architects. You will also support proof-of-concept builds, lab testing and technical documentation.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced network and security professional with strong Fortinet SD-WAN design and delivery experience. You must hold Fortinet FCSS certification and have expert knowledge of FortiGate, FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer.

The Role:

• Leading the end-to-end design and delivery of Fortinet Secure SD-WAN solutions
• Designing scalable, resilient network architectures for enterprise and public sector customers
• Acting as the Fortinet technical specialist and final escalation point for complex design and support issues
• Mentoring engineers and architects, driving best practice in networking, security and automation
• Supporting proof-of-concept builds, lab testing and technical design documentation
• Ensuring solutions meet customer requirements, service levels and regulatory standards

The Person:

• Experienced network and security professional with Fortinet SD-WAN design and delivery experience
• Fortinet FCSS certification essential
• Expert knowledge of FortiGate, FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer
• Experience designing large-scale, resilient, multi-site networks
• Strong knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, segmentation and zero trust principles
• Confident producing high-level and low-level designs and technical documentation
• Excellent troubleshooting and performance optimisation skills
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and mentoring skills
