Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Principal Flood Risk & Hydrology Consultant in Manchester to take technical ownership across major UK and international schemes, combining hydraulic modelling, hydrology and client responsibility.

You will provide technical leadership, review complex models, mentor junior staff and contribute to proposals while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on challenging projects.

Qualifications

• Strong consultancy experience in flood risk and hydrology.
• Chartered status or pursuing Chartership.
• Advanced hydraulic modelling and technical review capability.
• Experience delivering complex Flood Risk Assessments and hydrological studies.
• Strong client-facing and project management skills.
• Experience mentoring and developing technical staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead flood risk, hydrology and hydraulic modelling work
• Review complex hydraulic models and Flood Risk Assessments
• Provide technical advice across infrastructure and development projects
• Support climate adaptation and water environment assessments
• Manage project delivery and client relationships
• Work with multidisciplinary design and environmental teams
• Mentor junior and mid-level consultants and modellers
• Support proposals, work winning and development of the technical service
