Job Description

Are you passionate about improving the environmental performance of infrastructure development projects and helping the UK to deliver its net zero commitments? If so, we’d love to hear from you at AECOM.

Join our established Environmental Impact (EIA) team, which comprises over 165 staff across the UK and Ireland. We are a founding member of the IEMA EIA Quality Mark, aligning with our ESG strategy.

This role offers flexibility in office location, including offices in Basingstoke, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Croydon, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London Aldgate, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, St Albans, Warrington, and through our hybrid working model.

Work on projects transforming infrastructure, such as:

  • Energy generation (carbon capture, hydrogen, renewables)
  • Energy distribution and transmission
  • Carbon capture pipelines
  • National and regional rail projects
  • Highways and greenway projects
  • Portside regeneration developments
  • Various sectors including ecommerce, minerals, waste, water, defense, aviation, commercial, residential, industrial
Responsibilities
  • Provide Expertise: Manage environmental inputs for EIA reports, assessments, and supporting documents across all project stages, including site identification, feasibility, design, and operation. Work on various consenting regimes.
  • Ensure Quality: Maintain high standards and compliance with quality procedures.
  • Project Management: Manage resources and budgets effectively.
  • Collaborate: Work with design teams to improve environmental outcomes, identify constraints, and mitigation opportunities.
  • Client Contact: Manage client relationships and internal teams.
  • Growth: Promote services, lead business development, and contribute to proposals.
Qualifications

Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary environmental inputs, providing consultancy services, and understanding EIA processes and legislation. Strong stakeholder engagement, team collaboration, and communication skills are essential. A relevant environmental degree (preferably Masters) and professional membership are required. Willingness to travel is necessary.

Bonus points for Chartered Environmentalist status, staff mentoring experience, and familiarity with DCO/TWAO regimes.
