Job summary

Cura Terrae is seeking a Senior or Principal Environmental Consultant to take ownership of strategic client decisions, lead multidisciplinary projects across manufacturing, food and drink, construction, engineering and waste management, and contribute to growth.

You will combine technical leadership with client management and business development, influencing outcomes and shaping the direction of the consultancy as part of a growing team with flexible, home-based work and regional travel.

Qualifications

• Significant environmental consultancy or environmental management experience.
• Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation across sectors.
• Proven project leadership and delivery of commercial performance.
• Strong client relationships, communication, and report-writing.
• Experience in business development, bids, tenders, or new client opportunities.
• Leadership, coaching or mentoring experience.
• Full professional membership of ISEP (formerly IEMA) or Chartered status.
• ISO 14001 Lead Auditor and Chartered Environmentalist status desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and strategic environmental advice, ensuring clients understand and meet their UK environmental regulatory obligations.
• Lead multidisciplinary consultancy projects, taking responsibility for quality, delivery, budgets, utilisation, margins and client satisfaction.
• Prepare and review high-quality technical reports and deliver bespoke and accredited environmental training.
• Build trusted, long-term client relationships and influence decision-making through practical, commercially aware solutions.
• Identify and develop new opportunities, supporting bids, tenders, proposals and strategic partnerships.
• Contribute to growth across Cura Terrae and the wider group by developing new markets and collaborative opportunities.
• Coach and mentor colleagues, providing leadership, constructive feedback and technical development.
• Represent Cura Terrae at client meetings, industry forums and networking events.
• Take ownership, respond confidently to changing circumstances and help create a positive, high-performing team culture.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced environmental professional with:

• Significant environmental consultancy or environmental management experience.
• Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and its application across different sectors.
• Proven experience leading projects and managing commercial performance.
• Strong client relationship, communication and report-writing skills.
• Experience in business development, bids, tenders or developing new client opportunities.
• Leadership, coaching or mentoring experience.
• A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Full professional membership of ISEP (formerly IEMA) or another relevant professional body, ideally with Chartered status.

ISO 14001 Lead Auditor and/or Chartered Environmentalist status would be desirable but not essential.

Working Pattern

This is a home-based role, most of your time will be spent working remotely, with planned client meetings and site visits across the region, giving you flexibility while maintaining close relationships with clients.
