Job summary

Lockwood Publishing Ltd is seeking a Principal Environment Artist/ Lead for Avakin Life. The role is remote in the UK or hybrid with Lisbon, Portugal, offering £45k–£70k yearly. You will define immersive environments, lead by example, and drive AI-assisted workflows while collaborating across Art, Design, and Production.

You will mentor artists, optimize assets for mobile, and deliver production-ready environments with a strong visual identity and technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Expert in 3D environment creation for mobile platforms.
• Strong mastery of environment art, from concept to production.
• Proficient in mobile optimisation techniques for real-time environments.
• Experience creating lighting in Unity and managing visual fidelity.
• Experience using AI-assisted workflows for ideation and asset generation.
• Skilled in texture creation and UV mapping for optimized assets.
• Mentors teams with clear feedback and guidance on workflows.
• Ability to plan production and estimate tasks with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Lead environment ideation and visual development from concept to production.
• Mentor Environment and Prop Artists through feedback and AI knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with Designers, Technical Art, Engineering, Production, and QA.
• Review assets and ensure consistent, production-ready quality.
• Balance artistic ambition with technical constraints across teams.
• Oversee production planning and timely delivery of environment assets.
• Champion AI adoption and best practices across the art team.
