Job summary

Kier Group plc. seeks a Principal Engineer to lead engineering delivery within the Kier Design team across a broad range of construction projects in the UK. The role focuses on temporary works design, complex design management, and delivering safe, buildable engineering solutions.

You will mentor engineers, manage projects from remit development to completion, and build strong client relationships, representing Kier in meetings and contributing to business development.

Qualifications

• Chartered member of a relevant professional institution.
• Experience leading complex construction engineering projects.
• Skilled in temporary works design, value engineering, and design management.
• Comfortable providing technical leadership and mentoring to teams.
• Able to build positive relationships with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Leading the design and consultancy services including temporary works design, bid support, and value engineering.
• Managing projects from remit development through to completion, ensuring technical compliance and client satisfaction.
• Overseeing the work of engineers and technical staff, contributing to design deliverables and maintaining quality standards.
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring to colleagues, supporting their professional development.
• Building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, representing Kier at meetings and contributing to business development.
