Job Description:

As a Principal Engineer in Nuclear Safety, your responsibilities include:

• Deputising for the Build Assurance Manager as required
• Supporting or leading Nuclear Safety Engineering activities, including resolution of emergent issues during the Build and Commission, using appropriate Safety Engineering techniques
• Acting as the Intelligent Customer for documentation, advice, and services concerning the Plant and safety case
• Developing technical solutions to issues arising during construction and commissioning
• Authoring inputs to the Office of the Chief Engineer regarding compliance of the 'as built' Plant against design, build, and commissioning requirements
• Carrying out nuclear safety assessments of changes and deviations from the Plant design intent
• Liaising with internal and external customers to ensure their requirements are supported and incorporated

Skills and Experience (Essential):

• Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in Engineering or Physical Science
• Understanding of the design, build, commissioning, and operation of Plant systems
• Experience in technical report writing
• Engineering experience in system design and build, with an understanding of safety and quality considerations
• Ability to lead engineering investigations, including Root Cause Analysis
• Constructive challenging and influencing skills with clear reasoning
