Job Description:

Job Title: Principal C&I Engineer

Locations: Barrow-in-Furness, Manchester, Frimley (Hybrid – Travel to Barrow 3-4 times per month). We offer flexible working arrangements; please speak to your recruiter about options.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading engineering activities for the supply and delivery of Controls and Instrumentation equipment supporting test and build of AVC systems.
• Maintaining detailed records on part maturity, delivery status, and schedules.
• Specifying equipment, analyzing systems, and creating parts and BOMs.
• Understanding customer needs, developing, validating, and managing requirements, and applying your knowledge of C&I systems.
• Collaborating with system owners, suppliers, and customers to support manufacturing contracting and ensure on-time delivery.
• Compiling technical documentation for design, delivery, integration, validation, verification, testing, qualification, and manufacturing.
• Defining tests and performing testing on systems and equipment.
• Integrating electronic, mechanical, and software subsystems, understanding their impact on the entire system.
• Leading technical work packages, managing design and deliverables.

Your skills and experience:

• Strong understanding of C&I systems design with relevant career experience.
• Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Physics, Maths, or Science.
• Knowledge of the system engineering lifecycle and good practices.
• Familiarity with Defence and Industry standards (e.g., IEC 61508/61511, ARP 4754, DO-178C/DO-254).
• Chartered engineer or working towards this level.
