Job Description:

Job title: Principal Control & Instrumentation Engineer

Location: Coventry (2/3 days minimum on site per week). We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Develop a functional design for the Vehicle Control solution for SSNA.
2. Work with stakeholders to oversee the delivery of the vehicle control solution and strategy.
3. Support assurance activities in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Engineer.
4. Coordinate with the engineering manager to deliver the vehicle control system using agile methodologies.
5. Ensure timely delivery of the engineering plan.
6. Guide the engineering team on methods and processes.
7. Develop technical solutions with the engineering team, fostering their growth.
8. Engage with legacy stakeholders to develop solutions from baseline designs.

Your skills and experiences:

1. Experience designing large-scale C&I systems meeting various standards.
2. Managing non-functional requirements like EMC and shock compliance.
3. Authoring/reviewing design documents such as I/O schedules, specifications, and interface documents.
4. Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Physics, Maths, or Science.
5. Knowledge of control system architecture and communication protocols (e.g., RS-485, PROFIBUS).
6. Experience with IEC 61508 or similar functional safety standards.
7. Experience with maneuvering systems across industries.
