Principal Engineer - Electrical Engineering (Control & Instrumentation)

Job title: Principal Control & Instrumentation Engineer

Location: Coventry (minimum 2/3 days on-site per week). We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements; please discuss options with your recruiter.

Salary: Negotiable based on experience

What you'll be doing:

  • Develop a functional design for the Vehicle Control solution for SSNA.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to oversee the delivery of the vehicle control solution and strategy.
  • Support assurance activities in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Engineer.
  • Work with the engineering manager to deliver the vehicle control system, reporting progress via agile tools.
  • Ensure timely delivery of the engineering plan.
  • Guide and instruct on engineering methods and processes.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Delivery Team to develop technical solutions and mentor team members.
  • Engage with legacy stakeholders to develop solutions from baseline designs.

Your skills and experiences:

Essential
  • Experience in developing C&I designs for large-scale systems, meeting various standards.
  • Managing non-functional requirements like EMC and shock to meet industrial compliance.
  • Experience in authoring/reviewing design documents such as I/O schedules and interface control documents.
  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Physics, Maths, or Science.
Desirable
  • Understanding of control system architecture and communication protocols.
  • Experience with IEC 61508 - Functional Safety and safety evidence production.
  • Experience with manoeuvring systems across industries.
