Job summary

Kier Group plc, within the Kier Design team, seeks a Principal Engineer to lead the delivery of complex construction engineering services across a broad portfolio. You will provide safe, buildable solutions and shape temporary works design, bid support, value engineering, and design management.

Working across multidisciplinary teams, you’ll mentor colleagues, maintain quality, build client relationships, represent Kier at meetings, and contribute to business development and industry best

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Proven experience leading complex construction engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of temporary works design, value engineering and design management.

Job description

As a Principal Engineer, you'll be working within the Kier Design team, supporting them in delivering engineering excellence across a broad range of construction projects. This is an opportunity to lead the delivery of complex construction engineering services, providing safe and buildable solutions. You'll be responsible for a diverse range of activities including temporary works design, bid support, value engineering, design management, and technical assessment. Working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, you'll play a key role in enhancing Kier's reputation for delivering innovative, engineered outcomes while supporting the development of colleagues and contributing to industry best practice.

Your day to day will include:

• Leading the design and consultancy services including temporary works design, bid support, and value engineering
• Managing projects from remit development through to completion, ensuring technical compliance and client satisfaction
• Overseeing the work of engineers and technical staff, contributing to design deliverables and maintaining quality standards
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring to colleagues, supporting their professional development
• Building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, representing Kier at meetings and contributing to business development

• A Chartered member of a relevant professional institution with relevant experience
• Experienced in leading complex construction engineering projects
• Skilled in temporary works design, value engineering, and design management
• Comfortable providing technical leadership and mentoring to teams
• Able to build positive relationships with clients and multidisciplinary teams
