Job summary

Caerphilly County Borough Council is seeking a Principal Enforcement Officer to lead investigations and manage a varied caseload within the Planning Services Team. The role involves preparing enforcement notices, prosecutions, and representing the Council at appeals and court proceedings.

We require a Degree or Diploma in Town Planning (Level 6) and at least 2 years of relevant enforcement experience, plus a UK driving licence for site visits.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Town Planning or a related discipline at Level 6.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant enforcement experience.
  • Full UK Category B driving licence and vehicle for site visits.

Responsibilities

  • Lead investigation and resolution of complex and high-profile breaches of planning control.
  • Prepare enforcement notices and prosecution cases.
  • Represent the Council at appeals, inquiries and court proceedings.
  • Provide professional support and mentoring to enforcement and planning officers.
  • Drive high standards of enforcement practice across the Planning Service.

We are seeking a highly motivated and capable Principal Enforcement Officer to join our Planning Services Team. This is a key role within our Planning Enforcement Service. You will lead the investigation and resolution of complex and high-profile breaches of planning control, manage a varied caseload, prepare enforcement notices and prosecution cases, represent the Council at appeals, inquiries and court proceedings, and provide professional support and mentoring to enforcement and planning officers.     A Degree or diploma course in Town Planning or a related discipline at Level 6 on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant experience
  • Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to travel throughout the borough to undertake site inspections and site meetings.
