Job Title: Principal Electrical Power Engineer

Location: Barrow-In-Furness (Hybrid) – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Functional design and definition of Electrical Power Systems equipment.
2. Authoring and reviewing technical documentation.
3. Managing associated technical risks, assumptions, and dependencies.
4. Providing advice on electrical power technical aspects across a broad range of engineering disciplines.
5. Engaging with customers and suppliers to provide solutions to complex problems.
6. Leading and guiding junior team members through the systems definition process.
7. Travel to various locations throughout the UK, including BAE, customer, and supplier sites.

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering experience.
• Engineering Chartership required (or significant progress towards Chartership).
• Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Permanent Magnet Motors/Generators.

The Steam Integrated Design Team (IDT):

As a Principal Electrical Power Engineer, you will join a new team working on innovative technologies for the British Navy, focusing on Turbo Generators. We provide relocation support packages for all Submarines roles, subject to eligibility.
