Job summary

Black & White Engineering is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer in Edinburgh to lead complex MEP design projects from concept to delivery. You’ll guide design teams, engage with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and ensure technical excellence across building and infrastructure schemes.

Principal Electrical Engineer - Edinburgh

Looking for the next step in your engineering career? Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer?

As Principal Electrical Engineer in Edinburgh, you’ll lead engineering projects from design through to delivery, support colleagues when needed, and bring confidence and expertise to client interactions.

You’ll take ownership of complex engineering designs and provide expert guidance across a range of building and infrastructure projects. Your knowledge and decision-making will directly contribute to successful project delivery and technical excellence.

Project variety & responsibility

From developing industry leading mission critical designs, specifications and design documentation to overseeing programme delivery. You’ll enjoy broad project involvement and the opportunity to influence outcomes from concept through to completion.

You’ll work closely with clients and multidisciplinary design teams. This means you will build trusted relationships and becoming a recognised technical expert within your field. This provides excellent exposure and opportunities to expand your professional network.

As a senior member of the engineering team, you’ll support and develop colleagues. This includes sharing your expertise and helping to build the next generation of engineering talent.

• Degree or diploma in an engineering discipline (BSc/BEng or HND/HNC).
• Significant experience delivering complex MEP design projects across a range of building types.
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practice.
• Experience using engineering design software such as Amtech, Dialux, AutoCAD, or similar.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and communicate complex technical information effectively.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to successful project delivery.
• Strong commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets, schedules, and change control processes.
• You may be a Chartered Engineer or actively working towards chartership.
