Job summary

AMF MEP is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design on high-rise and residential schemes. The role is fully remote with no office, with travel limited to site visits as required.

You will oversee multiple live projects, mentor engineers, coordinate with mechanical/public health teams, and present to clients. Chartered status preferred but not essential.

Qualifications

• Experience leading multiple projects and managing a team.
• Strong background in building services electrical design (power distribution, lighting, life safety).
• Proven experience in Stage 4/5 design and coordination.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design across several projects from concept through construction.
• Mentor and approve calculations, schematics, schedules and layouts.
• Act as client-facing lead on electrical matters in meetings and with contractors.
• Coordinate with the mechanical and public health engineers, architects and contractors.
• Attend site visits for surveys, coordination and inspection as required.

Job description

We are looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical design on our projects, most of them high-rise and residential schemes. AMF is a fully remote practice with no office; the only travel is for the site visits a project requires.

Leading the electrical design across several live projects, and the engineers delivering it.

AMF MEP is a multi-disciplinary practice working across mechanical, electrical and public health engineering. Every project gets the same standard of technical work, the same compliance with industry standards and the same attention to delivery. We look for people motivated to work at that level.

• Lead the electrical design on several projects at once, from concept through technical design to construction.
• Manage and mentor the electrical engineers on those projects, and check and approve their calculations, schematics, schedules and layouts.
• Act as the client-facing lead on electrical matters, in design team meetings and in answering client and contractor comments and queries.
• Coordinate the electrical design with the mechanical and public health engineers, architects and contractors.
• Attend site for surveys, coordination and inspection of the installed works when a project requires it.

Qualifications

• Experience managing multiple projects and a team.
• A thorough grounding in building services electrical design, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm and other life safety systems.
• Proven experience in Stage 4/5 design and coordination.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is preferred but not essential.

• A high level of proficiency in English is essential for this role, as the work depends on clear communication within the team and with our clients.
