Job summary

Skilled Careers is recruiting a Principal Electrical Engineer for a fully remote UK-based role. You’ll lead electrical design across residential and high-rise schemes, with no office to commute to and travel only when required on site.

Join a respected MEP consultancy operating as a fully remote practice. You’ll mentor engineers, review calculations, and act as the primary technical lead for clients, delivering projects to a high standard and coordinating with mechanical and other engineers.

Qualifications

• Strong residential and high-rise experience.
• Proven ability to run multiple projects and lead teams.
• Solid knowledge of power, lighting, fire alarm and life-safety systems.
• CEng is a plus; experience with RIBA Stage 4/5 coordination.
• Excellent English communication; valid UK work rights.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design on multiple live projects from concept to construction.
• Mentor engineers and review/calibrate calculations, schematics and layouts.
• Act as the primary electrical lead for clients and contractors in design meetings.
• Coordinate with mechanical, public health, architects and contractors.
• Attend site surveys, coordination and inspections as required.

Principal Electrical Engineer | Fully Remote (UK) | Permanent | £75,000

Want to lead electrical design on some of London’s most significant high-rise and residential schemes, without ever commuting to an office?

I’m working with a respected multi-disciplinary MEP consultancy that runs as a fully remote practice. There’s no office; you’ll only travel when a project needs you on site. They’re looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to take the technical lead across their electrical portfolio.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading electrical design on several live projects at once, from concept through to construction
• Managing and mentoring a team of electrical engineers, and reviewing and signing off their calcs, schematics, schedules and layouts
• Acting as the go-to electrical lead for clients and contractors in design team meetings and technical queries
• Coordinating closely with mechanical and public health engineers, architects and contractors
• Attending site for surveys, coordination and inspections where required

What they’re looking for

• Strong residential experience, ideally including high-rise
• A track record of running multiple projects and leading a team
• Solid electrical building services knowledge across power distribution, lighting, fire alarm and other life safety systems
• Proven RIBA Stage 4/5 design and coordination experience
• CEng is a plus but not essential
• Excellent communication skills in English and the right to work in the UK
